The Solution
Our team approached this project by designing three custom bunded fuel tanks, each with bespoke dimensions to perfectly align with the MOD’s concrete foundation. The tanks were built with galvanised steps and walkways, coated with anti-slip paint for enhanced safety when accessing the roof area.
The fuel tanks featured aluminium roller shutter doors and end cabinets for secure storage and easy access. The critical challenge of aligning our fabricated pipework with the MOD’s existing underground system was addressed through careful planning, precise measurements, and detailed communication with the MOD’s engineering team. Despite being located hundreds of miles away, our fabrication facilities worked seamlessly to ensure a perfect fit on-site.
The Results
From the design and specification sign-off to the final commissioning, the entire project took just 12 weeks. The bunded fuel tanks were delivered on time, commissioned successfully, and quickly put into use at the Catterick refuelling area. The Ministry of Defence was pleased with the rapid turnaround and the quality of the solution provided, which ensured efficient and secure fuel storage without disrupting their operations.
